The PC version of ForScan will do the individual cylinder cutout test(not sure about lite version)
contribution issues can come from valve train to stuck injector tip, or low compression on that cylinder -- have to do some digging to figure where to look first
what you have is "lazy" combustion in that cylinder
So, is this app for android or do I need a laptop that connects to the OBD2 port? I just want to be sure I get the right application. I"m pretty sure we are talking andriod phone connection to ELM-327 set-up, just want to be sure it's not laptop to obd2 port.
Most of your questions can be answered here, but yeah Lite for Android and iOS -- I like the PC version best because it does more -- use either wireless, Bluetooth or cable whatever will connect to your equipment -- I have used Bluetooth and wireless on my laptop, don't notice any difference https://forscan.org/download.html
OK, Forscan lite worked great! I did the buzz test and all injectors buzzed with the initial buzz, then all 8 buzzed individually from 1-8. Buzz test cycled 3 times as expected.
Truck show the p0275, not the other two cylinders 1 and 7 on the same bank.
I do have a fuel pressure gauge for gasoline cars, think it goes up to 100 psi, probably not sufficient for a diesel system. Anyway, I did the fuel bowl bubble test. NO Bubbles.
Now what? Clear the codes, let it idle for a bit and see what codes comes back?
The fuel pressure test port is on the side of the secondary fuel filter and the threads are M12x1.5
Just want to confirm - are you now happy with the ICP numbers? I have to admit that I absolutely hate the idea of an aftermarket ICP sensor (and it wouldn't be the first time an aftermarket sensor did strange things). If the sensor reports more voltage for a given pressure than the OEM sensor does, you will run low on power and I can see it wanting to die at idle.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to hook up my fuel pressure gauge today. One question, having been a gas engine guy, anytime I had to check fuel pressure on a gas car, I had to disconnect the vacuum gauge to the fuel pressure regulator for accurate fuel pressure. Will I need to disconnect any vacuum line for the proper reading?
I will have to connect torque pro to look @ my ICP numbers, but if memory serves me correctly, my ICP was around 700-800 @ idle. I will check later to be sure. ICP Voltage, I don't remember.
I was able to install Forscan on my andriod and I got a successful buzz test. I did the fuel bowl bubble test, no bubbles.
Fuel injectors are OEM @ 154K. I bought the truck with 112K and I use the hot shot fuel treatment every 4 months, also use the hotshot oil treatment every other year.
I cleared the codes again and no codes have surfaced since I did the buzz test, cleared the codes and then let the truck run for 15 minutes.
Now I am questioning the ICP sensor. I did get it off of Amazon, and it was a "Ford OEM" part. I will have to look later. Kids are just glued to their computers/video games and mom's still in the hospital. I think I need to pull them off of the electronic babysitter for a while.
next up;
Fuel pressure from my fuel gauge
ICP pressure
ICP Voltage
Yea, its strange. I've always had small block Chevy hot rods and for those engines, aftermarket are almost always way better for quality than OEM. However, with my Ford & Audi, manufacture specific as they are far superior to the aftermarket parts.
OK, I just took a quick look for the placement of the fuel pressure gauge. I only see 3 hard line fittings on the drivers side of the upper fuel bowl, and one on the passengers side. I'm not seeing anything that looks like a Shrader valve. I was assuming that is what I am looking for. My fuel pressure only has the screw on Shrader valve female attachment.
Standing on the driver side looking into the engine compartment -- you see the fuel filter housing and the pressure regulator housing on the side -- just under the regulator housing is the test port
