I can also attest that this exhaust Tom recommends is great! I purchased one a couple of years ago and have most of it on my F-4. I have not gotten to installing the parts behind the muffler yet!
Sounds great, I’m looking forward to getting the exhaust system from them.
On a similar note, I’d like to use the original style exhaust brackets. No one reproduces them. If I can find original hangers I can make accurate reproductions, or even use the originals if they are in good enough shape.
If anyone has any of the following brackets, please let me know. They are all listed as being originally fitted on 48-50 F1/2/3. 6 cylinder or V8.
21C 5259 Bracket (muffler outlet pipe) front
7HC 5259 Bracket (muffler outlet pipe to frame) rear
Hi, I have a set of these NOS hangers.
I had bought them on E-Bay while I was gathering parts for the F3 restoration. Then I bought that exhaust set that is mentioned above. When I went to install the pipe using these hangers, I found that the aftermarket pipe must be slightly larger in diameter than the original Ford pipe. Not by much, but enough so that it just doesn't slip through.
I had to expand one of the hangers (left-most pictured) so that the pipe would fit. I then had some difficulty getting the pipe to play nice with the spare tire and rear fender space, and ended up just getting some basic aftermarket hangers. The extension I installed near the rear axle sort of complicated things too. That is why I made my own hangers. It all worked in the end but I didn't use these stock hangers and never did quite figure out the original place where they went since my truck had no exhaust on it when I bought it.
But if you notice in the schematic above, there are two with a 90-degree bend, and a slightly longer one with a 45-degree bend with a gusset. There are no part numbers on these, but I purchased them from that guy in Tennessee who bought out a Ford parts warehouse and is listing many parts for 48-52 trucks on E-Bay. I also have one intermediate hanger that was on my truck that I put with these pieces.
I don't plan to use them and you can PM me if you are interested in having them.

That's great he is making them - very helpful to the F2/F3 crowd. Thanks for the link.
For future reference in case the link breaks and the auction ends - the EBay seller's name is Deepgaptradingcompany. He has been offering antique vehicle exhaust systems for a while.
When you check the exhaust for the 48 f3 compatability it says it will not work
Hi Ed, I wonder why it would say that? The F3 just has a few extra spring leaves and 14" rear drums compared to the F2. Same dimensions all over the truck otherwise.
What compatibility source did you see that in?
Tom
I agree with Myers. The compatibility lists are usually selected by the seller from drop-down lists, and he may have just forgotten to include the F-3.
