solid rear window

What are your thoughts about going from a slider to a solid window? The reason I am considering, less chance for water leaks and wind noise. Do you think the slider is worth the extra air flow?

I never open my slider for several reasons. First is the fact that I can't reach it without kneeling on the seat or climbing into the back seat and second, it's really hard to slide due to the moss in the tracks.

I love my solid window. I have had sliders in other trucks, but never used them. The one exception was a dentside I had in college that didn't have AC. It was nice in that truck, but still I didnt use it a ton. The solid window looks better IMO.

I've had dent sides with and without back in the day. At first I wished the truck I recently got had the slider option but now glad it doesn't. Sliders are similar to a sunroof. Everyone wants a car with one but they never use it.
Sliders were most useful back the in day to throw empty beverage cans into the bed.

The vent wings turned forward create plenty of air flow.

I think the big things to consider is whether the truck has air conditioning and what part of the country you live in.

No A/C in the truck I live in Western Washington. A/C is nice to have but not necessary, truck will be used as a weekend truck, dump runs, some camping. If it gets driven 3K / year that would surprise me.

I guess I am on the outs if this group lol. I love my slider in my 03. I open it every chance I get. Windows down and rear slider open. (I can still reach it in my supercab from the front seat). I plan to install a slider in my 74 as its a solid one right now. During non winter months I think mine is open more often than closed. I also have noticed the last year or two, when trucks pull up behind me and mine in open... within a minute or two I notice their back windows are open to! I must be a reminder that they have one lol

The slider being open is how you get "5/70" a/c....5 windows open and 70 MPH. All 3 of mine have sliders (2 even have a/c) but I like having the option to open it.

I live in Canada and have 2 trucks, both without A/C, one with a slider and one with a solid window. On hot summer days (yes we have hot summer days!) I love the rear slider. If I come across another slider I will be swapping out the solid one.

I love the rear sliders in my trucks...just a good feeling I guess to have the windows down and the slider opened! I do camping and fishing trips during the summer months and for me, the slider is great to have opened just for the feel of fresh air! Most of my trucks have AC and I never use them, just prefer the natural air flow!

FWIW, I have replaced all my factory sliders with the 1996 version and the fit is perfect and I have never had one leak!!

I prefer solid, most sliders tend to leak a little since they just have that whisker fuzz for a seal. If your really **** about perfectly clean glass the sliders are a pita. JMO

I love my slider and my sunroof. Windows up, vent windows, sunroof and slider open. Plenty of airflow from every direction. Windows block the sun a little and keep everything from chattering in the wind. Also able to lock the doors without rolling everything up.

When I get my headache rack installed, I’ll be able to leave the sunroof and the back window open.

Glad I'm not the only one who used to do that

Back when I worked at a foundry leaving work on hot day. Turn vent windows around and open slider was like having a/c.
