Just wanted some confirmation if the price my Diesel Mechanic is giving me sounds right or to pricey. He’s telling me it’ll be about $2,200 for the following work:
The front end needs upper & lower ball joints, track bar, drag link rod & tie rod end, and sway bar end links.
Sounds high to me but I’m not a mechanic so idk. I have a couple buddies who also work as mechanic and waiting for a quote from them but they don’t have a shop and don’t know if this is something I want them to handle.

Any help with this would be awesome!
I paid 1800 for similar work from a very trusted mechanic in my area. That being said, nothing about the work was easy. There was so much rust most components had to be cut off with a torch. I also needed calipers, rotors, U joint, brake lines etc.
that could be true on the removal with torches and the such, you live in Maine. you also say you did rotors and all to. This truck might not need all the same work and is in Georgia( you 1800$) with what was listed the shop would get over 200 an hour if, and i say if it takes 8 hrs. I luv a good mechanic but that's just insane.
One of my buddies I was telling you about just quoted me $800 in parts and $400 in labor. That sounds better to me but debating having a conversation with my Diesel Mechanic and getting his input on the cost. It’s probably that hourly rate driving it up.

Thats somewhere in the Ballfeld i was thinking. Parts and labor. it could go +/- ether way. Thats almost half of above.
Good Luck
Have you gotten down there and looked? Have you racked the wheels for excessive play? Tried to push/pull them? Gotten under the front end and had someone turn the steering wheel while you watch the tie rod ends to verify that work needs to be done? Did they show you? Sounds fishy that it all needs to be replaced at once. How many miles on it? Lots of off road use? Is this something that you've been avoiding? One loose joint breeds others, but it takes a while.
I just had passenger side tie rod sleeve and bearings done for less than $300 at a local shop. It made a huge difference in handling and finally got my alignment stabilized. Be sure to get ball joints with grease zerks this time! Even with all the other work in your quote I'm not sure it sounds reasonable...
I would think maybe you also need to consider having the front bearings looked at. Seems they use a 1 time no replacement setup and the bearings can go out without warning. I remember reading of such instances happening and you have 150+K on the truck. I just had all suspension bushings R&R'd on my 94 ranger along with some steering parts. Cost $1400, no rust to worry about. Parts were in the $400 range rest labor and alignment costs.
