2000 Excursion 7.3 with 2008 superduty interior

Hey all!

Im new to the forum. I have a 2000 excursion 7.3 in which i have decided to do a full interior swap. I bought an entire cabellas interior from an f350 amd plan to install it.

I started tackling it today so i figured id post a bit of progress and see if you guys can give me any guidance. I feel pretty confident i can do it only thing that will take me some time is the dash.

Heres a few pictures of what ive done so far. I also took a few videos to explain the wiring. If anyone would like help let me know. I explain things for the dumb 😅 like i said i have a video of the wiring for the front seats and can easily explain how to bypass the module on the bottom of the drivers seat. Save yourself the headache, strip plastic covering off the wires and cut everything that connects to the control module about 3" back from the module connections and remove all that wiring.

Ill take a bunch more pics tomorrow. For now i have a couple of my ex and a few of the whole interior i bought hahaha. Tackling door panels and 08 mirrors tomorrow

Heres a few pics of the 2 front seat after i rewired them

Driver seat once rewired and memory module removed Had to use a voltmeter from the switch to where 6 of the wires from the memory module go. Then i had to wire those 6 to another 6 wires. Thats where the voltmeter came i handy because those wires are for the motor. Once you determine your power wires with the voltmeter then you determine your clear passage for the remaining 6. Basically wire it to match the passenger seat.

Passenger seat

Memory module

With swaps like this are the 2nd row seats functional as far as folding over to allow access to the 3rd row.

Yes they will. You have to drill new holes for the rear seats and what i did was bolted them from the exterior with a nut and washer and im going to weld the nuts to the cab just like the original ones were.
for layout i made them to the same measurements to a superduty so the seats look to sit about 1-2" forward so you actually have easier access to the back. My truck is being built to be a full camping rig so i also left enough room to make myself a nice bed back there.

Tackling front doors and 08 mirrors today. Will post more pics.

Very nice! What coating do you have on the areas where the cladding was or is that painted/coated cladding?

if you mean the area under the back seats it was all carpeted but where the orginal bolt holes were it was what looked like just factory primed grey metal.

My plan is to remove all the rugs from the front seats back for now, lightly sand the floor, patch the holes and install raptor lining to make it easy to clean. 20 years later i dont think the rugs are worth it anymore and any wiring ill run in the pillars, doors and side panels.

Now today, i got the door panels in and wired up except the mirrors. I also installed the mirrors but didn't wire them yet. Anyone have a good write up with pictures for a 2000 excursion that had those ****ty small mirrors? They were simply heated, power adjust.

Everything went awesome with the doors and bolting the front seats back in after rewiring them. Who ever posted that wiring diagram for the door wiring did an awesome job.

Forgot to take some pictures once i had the door panels all wired and mounted but i have a few of the modification i made to the handle of the existing excursion handle to make them work. Works awesome

Slight mod i made to the existing excursion handle. 1/8 space washers on the bottom and 1/4 on top. I literally wrapped electrical tape through the handle to hold the washers. Once its bolted up will never move. Noitce i also cut the cup area off the plastic to give me an extra 1/8"

Top view, all installed

Great write up. I will be following your build as I plan to do something similar. I want to replace the driver/pass front seats and dash at some point. You gave me a great idea to tackle an idea I have which is to actually push the rear captain chairs (2nd row) back a few inches. I was originally thinking sliders, but rebolting them might be easier since I have not located any sliders to adjust the rear seats. at that rate, I may just leave the 3rd row out permanently, we are a tall family, the extra leg room would be amazing for our camping trips.

h3ckler,

Your "original" front seats looked like they had built in seat belts.Just curious why and what you were doing with them.

Hey, i have already sold them all basically. Front back and console.

The previous owner had put those front ext superduty leather seats in before me so i just unbolted them and rewired the 08 seats.

Alrighty,

Been awhile since I posted on this thread and lots of things have changed but between work and this build I haven't been able to post much.

I've gotten door panels in the front, front seats, middle console, raptor lined a ton of the truck, replaced coolant reservoir, radiators, turbo, injectors, glow plugs, gaskets, put 37's on it etc.

Logging road adventures

Rock guarded hood

Rock guarded kick plates

Cabella front seats

Front door panels with sony speakers

Rock guarded back, pre carpet reinstall and cleaning

Tweeter wired in with sony speakers rear door, made a nice template for the plastic

Fresh 37's, nitto terra grapplers, highly recommended, had then on another truck, no road noise, 8 ply, good for offroad and wear evenly and last a long time

Very nice! I actually dig the hood lined like that! Well done!

Any plans to mod some 08 rear door panels to fit? There’s been a few done but looks like quite a lot of fab work from what I’ve seen.

I have looked into it but haven't had a chance to explore any of that as i've been doing tons of maintenance on it haha.
list of things i just did
went from 3.73 gears to 4.56. way better gas mileage and no longer sluggish on hills. I would recommend this to anyone running a lift and 35+ tires.
ordered a crank seal and going to tackle that in the coming days. then going to do a full fluid change on the whole truck aside from the transmission and diffs since i just had those done.

fixed some rust on the rear quarter panel in the fender area and did another coat of raptor liner on all the areas of the truck. will post pictures from my phone here shortly.

It is really coming along great, what size Sony speaker did you use in your front door? I have only seen 6x9 and the door calls for 6x8, or did you fab an adapter? Keep us posted on you progress, Thanks.
