NOISE coming from engine area HELP
The truck isnt drive but once or twice a week since purchased new.March 8, 2020
1st Time Noise heard.
We drove to the park approximately 12 miles from our house. Turned the truck off, had a picnic and hiked several trails, a total of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
Started the truck and heard the noise for the first time and instantly turned the truck off. Waited a few minutes and started the engine again and it sounded normal and drove home.
March 10, 12, 13, 17
Drove the truck with no engine noise to work and back home, starting twice a day.

Auto started the F350 from inside the house. Came out of the house after approximately 3 minutes running and heard loud engine noise and seen smoke coming from under truck. Stopped the engine. Looked under hood and under truck but could not find anything obvious.
Started the engine again and the engine sounded normal.
Called Ford for service and safety recall. Appointment made for MARCH 20, 2020.
March 20, 2020
Delivered the F350 to Ford for Recall.
Explained also about the noise coming from the engine.
Picked up F350. Was told they could not get the truck to duplicate the noise.
Drove directly home estimated 6.1 miles and parked. The F350 sat for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Auto started the truck, walked outside and the truck was making the noise and beginning to smoke from under the hood area. Ran outside and videoed the truck and noise. When I opened the hood of the truck the engines shut off. I stared the engine by key and the noise continued.
I drove my wife’s car and drove directly to Ford showing Service Advisor the video. He asked that text him the video which I did. An appointment was scheduled for March 23, 2020 to drop the truck off.
March 23, 2020
Delivered the truck to Ford for repair.

Called Ford and spoke to Service Advisor for a status update. According to him, he has no update. Unsure what if anything has been done or if any attempts have been made to start the engine.
I offered to come to Ford on March 30, 2020, try to duplicate the noise by starting the engine, even drive it for a while and return the truck, let is cool for 30 to 40 minutes and try starting it again. Service Advisor said what would be great idea, he is unsure if the diesel mechanic will have time meanwhile to address the complaint.

As of this date I have not heard anything Ford.
My wife and I went to Ford to check on the progress of the repair or diagnosis.
We met with Service Advisor. According to him there has not been and process or diagnoses made. He has started the truck but the noise did not duplicate.
We then spoke to the Service Manager and explained to him the problem to include showing him the video of the problem. Service Manager was shocked at the noise and said he had never heard such a noise. I texted the video to Service Manager and he mentioned that he will sent it to Ford.
I offered to try to duplicate the noise by starting the engine, even drive it for a while and return the truck, let is cool for 30 to 40 minutes and try starting it again. Service Manager said that would not be necessary.

AS OF THIS DATE I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
Meanwhile I have received a notice on my Ford Pass that the battery is low. Obviously they have started it making attempts but not charging the battery or allowing it to heat up to charge the battery.
Play play the attached file and provide any ideas or feed back.
the noise and SMOKE appears to be more towards back of engine somewhere. Have nof been able to pin point.
this has occurred several times.
the turbo appears to be fine. It spools up with higher rpm and back down at idle.
Once the sound is gone, no more smoke and runs great.
Some days starts and runs perfect.
And the smoke is only coming from the engine compartment correct (not out of exhaust)? If so, turn off the A/C/Defrost and see if that changes anything (could be a bad compressor/clutch). I would also check the idler pulley, other belt driven components. Sure sounds like it’s coming from something is moving externally on the engine if you are seeing smoke. It’s possible that the smoke appears to be coming from the back of the engine compartment because it is being blown back by the fan.

Only when idling after REMOTE OR KEY START.........
The smoke comes from under the truck in the front, in the area of behind and infront of front tire.....................NOT at rear of truck..
I would say ONLY once would have the AC or heat been on.......I turn EVERYTHING off in the truck before shutting off.....(very meticulous)
When I get the truck back from Ford, since they are not figuring anything out. I will check all the belts, idler pulley and components. I did initially because the sound is like something is in the fan and there was nothing..........
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU SUGGESTIONS.
