Does anyone know how to remove the rear seat back pad? It’s a 1997 two door, extended cab. The back pad is attached to the rear wall. I’m trying to remove the trim and can’t get anything off without getting that pad off first.
Pulls straight off. Slap some Peel & Seal back there when it is all apart. Helps with road noise.
Expect to find some odd trinkets back there. I did! Also pulled seat, four 13 or 15mm head bolts. If you are sadistic and REALLY bored do cab mounts...I did.
Ok, thanks for the help. I tugged on it a bit but I was afraid to break it. I’ll give it another try. So it’s just held on with some clips?
And yup, my reason for removing the interior is to do a bunch of sound deadening/blocking as well as replace the cab mounts. It’s my COVID-19 quarantine project haha. I am dreading the cab mounts though...
Check my build thread for pictures of that stuff removed in my EC. Almost positive pulls straight out.
Mounts are not that bad. Core support ones usually need to be sawed out. I used a Dremmel with metal wheel. Worked great. Definitely not a one day job. I used Energy mounts. No excess noise to me.
Rockauto has some sound dampening stuff and heat rejection stuff that is cut out to fit these floors. Look under the 'interior section' Either way, I doubt you can make these quiet on the road. Reduce road noise? Sure. Quiet some engine sounds? Probably. Turning 2500rpm @ 70mph in a tin can Diesel rig is most of the issue.
I finally got a chance to go out and work on the truck some more and discovered that back rest pad does in fact just pull straight out. It is secured with 3 or 4 plastic pins. Thanks for the help!
