Never dull is what I use on my tail pipe. The tailpipe being stainless is why I was asking about scrubbing bubbles. I mean I use it on my stainless fixtures. Didn’t think I would get a freak out about 0000 steel wool. Awhile back y’all suggested it on windshield.

I watched a big debate on another truck forum about using 0000 steel wool on a windshield, it turned into an absolute fuster cluck. Personally, I wouldn't use it on my windshield, it will scratch the glass with extended use. It puts very small, very minor imperfections in the glass and the glass will eventually start looking dull. I use Stoners and Rain-X on my windshield and occasionally will clay bar it and apply a wax or sealant. The roughest thing that generally touches my truck is a microfiber towel. Granted, I'm likely obsessive about the way I care for the paint and finish of my truck but, if you're asking for recommendations about the best way to go about things, cautious is generally going to be better when it comes to detailing.

Yea on my glass I just use the rain x. The rain x waterless wash is fantastic and windshield wiper fluid.
oops, polmolive is all I have ever used, granted my truck gets washed about 1 time a year, well my old truck. I have washed my '19 3 times since I got it last June.
after reading the links i will be buying the right stuff.
Nothing but cheap dish soap for me twice a year. Been doing that for 40 years and have had no issues with any paints or clear coats. However, I always wax immediately after washing.
Someone also mentioned Purple Power in an earlier post, which I assume is same or similar to Zep Industrial Purple (strong lye). The product label doesn't recommend this for uncoated metals like polished aluminum because it will react and dull the finish. Don't ask me how I know...

The only problem I ever heard with using dish soap was that it strips the wax. In your case it probably helps prep the paint for that fresh coat of wax.
