This tie rod end modification scares the poop out of me. What were they thinking?

Maybe we should title it. What have you seen before?
Back in the 80's when I had my 4x4 Shop. A customer brought in a truck he had purchased that had a lift kit in it. He wanted it removed to go back to stock. Back then they used a 3 inch lift block on the steering arm. Dana 44, It had one on it but was made out of Flat washers stacked to get the height and tack welded together. Not even good at that. I should have kept that and had it chromed or something.

Most people will understand the original purpose of your post. I don’t believe it is to point out any member rather, to express the silly things we've seen, and done.

Me, I have been working on these rigs for as long as I can remember yet, I can tell you countless stories of how I have completely destroyed something because I did not understand how they were removed or serviced. I did not have the fortune of this Forum, nor a person of experience, readily available to learn. I am thankful that I, and others, have so many Uncle-type figures through this forum that can say hey, don’t do that, do this, before we screw something up.

We’ve all seen and done dumb stuff. I’d share mine and welcome others to do so as well. I would caution against outing other members “silly” moments. We aren’t where we are without having been where we were.

Most of us older guys were in the same boat. Before the internet and this forum we were all pretty much on our own. I've been around these trucks since day one. I remember when the '73's came out. I thought they looked great and actually bought a new F250 in '77.
Broktruk, you can now be "the uncle" to those just now getting into these trucks...teach them well.

Anything unsafe is stupid. Anything other than going all the needed way for safety is stupid. You are so crunched on time now, you’re willing to put your life and everyone else’s at risk? Dieing is a great way to take up all your time, and going to prison will get you a lot of it but just be safe and you probably won’t be dead or in prison. Those are best not done.

Calling other people ideas is also stupid. It’s also ignorant short sighted and nonsensical. Who gives a damn what you think about everyone elses ideas? Anyone else could walk in your shoes for 5 min and point a handful of truly stupid crap you’re all about. Same goes for everyone. As long as we are all safe and no ones harming each other alls good.

It’s also pretty stupid in and of itself to just assume you know so much about someone’s situation you know what they should do. If they’re asking is one thing, but it’s that same personality that just can’t answer someone’s question because they have to tell everyone they are right constantly. Someone shouldn’t have to convince you to help them. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like that paint color or think they should put their work into something else. Answer the question to the best of your abilities and let them get on with their life. Explaining your reasoning or thought process isn’t wrong. Tell people your opinion. Try to save them headache you’ve already gone through but don’t bash their opinions wants or needs because “my opinion is the right one”. It makes YOU look bad. And it makes the whole forum look bad.

As far as 4x2-4x4 conversion, I’m gonna convert my crew cab myself. Probably in the next couple years. I can and will. And I’m gonna be on here asking questions about it. It’s not possible to buy another truck like mine in 4x4. There has never ever been another truck like mine in 4xanything. MY truck is unique and special to ME. See how I said that? ME and MINE. Not you or yours. You don’t know my story. You don’t know anything. It’s impossible to go buy another truck like mine, it doesn’t exist. So since I want a extra shifter coming up through the floor, I’m gonna put one there. In MY truck.

Stupid ideas pfffftt some people make stupid threads.

I saw a guy at work attempt to load a 3 wheeled gas powered wheel barrow onto the back of a trailer.... with 2 separate ramps that weren’t close enough to pick up the center tire. I came out there before he actually stood behind it and tried it out. I wasn’t sure if he was skilled enough to NOT hurt himself at that point. Piece of plate in the middle got him up it, then he drove off without the plate we used to get it up there! I imagine it involved a bobcat and a chain to get it off.

I walked under an over head door the other day and pulled it down behind me as I went. I was trying to keep the sun from heating the inside of the shop up to much. Well as I went under I realized I forgot a tool, and quickly turned around and walked face first into the door! Caught the whole thing with face as it was shoulder level. I actually took a step under the door with my body, while my head and neck are being smashed into a dirty dusty loud banging door! I felt like a cartoon character. Luckily my supervisor didn’t see as I’m sure he’d still be laughing at me.

Personally I don't really care for it when modern, new truck trends wind up on classic trucks. I'm thinking crazy wide tires, rims wider than the tires, and lots of led exterior lighting. It's fine if you want to express yourself on your modern truck, as much as I dislike it, but stop screwing up classics!

Here's a thought that may be relevant to this discussion: "If man's reach does not exceed his grasp then what's a heaven for?"

One man's weird is another man's wonderful -- they even have parades for deliberately weird cars such as
.

Flowney,
Although my reply isn't relevant to this tread title. I'd like to complement you on your posts that I read from you, even though we've never met and probably never will. There's been three members I enjoy reading there posts, you, HIHO Silver and Papa Bear Yuma, all three of you come across as gifted writers and are always upbeat with whatever you add to an thread.
At work this morning, obviously not very busy for a welcomed change. Times like this I enjoy logging into our forum, stay up on what folks are doing, learn from others and research for planned future projects on both eras Dentside and 1992-96 F-Series trucks.
Until next post, stay safe and healthy.
