1993 460 EFI computer KOEO code questions

Good day gentlemen,

I have a 1993 E350 with 460 EFI, and I assume it is the same engine and controls as the trucks?

Anyway, it is running and driving well, but I checked the codes on it today with my Innova reader, and came up with the following:

Code 23 - Throttle Position Sensor out of range.
Code 34 - EVAP control system fault / voltage higher than closed limit

And then a 3rd code that is not current, but is stored in memory:

Code 41 - HEGO (HO2S) sensor signal out of range / always lean. Or...No HO2S switching detected.

The previous owner changed a whole bunch of sensors, and the TPS was one of them.
So my question is, does this mean the TPS is faulty or that it needs to be adjusted? Can it be adjusted? I haven't looked yet.

And the code 34. Any idea where to start looking for this?

I did buy a 1993 EVTM for the E350, but I don't have a service manual for it yet. It is running fine, but I'd like to get it so that it is clear of any codes.

Thanks for any help or advice.

I would have expected 3 digit codes on a '93.

23--TPS check/test, (is it motorcraft) Fuel Injection Technical Library » Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

34-- crud not letting it close fully, remove clean Fuel Injection Technical Library » EGR Valve Position sensor (EVP)

41-- exhaust leak/manifold crack(O2 lean)

Awesome, thanks!

The current TPS that is installed is an aftermarket one. The original Ford one came with the vehicle, in the aftermarket box. Same with the EGR valve and sensor...that was also changed out.

The guy told me that he was having problems with it, and either he or a shop changed out the TPS, the EGR valve and sensor, MAP sensor and I'm not sure what else, but later found out the issue was a plugged up catalytic converter. It seems to run pretty good, but I want to get it dialed in a little better and do whatever is necessary to clear the codes and start with a fresh baseline.

Thanks.

thats an old fuel pressure regulator, and as long as TPS closed voltage is above the minimum closed(0.6v) should be ok but here is good write up on it

Does the throttle body ever need to be cleaned in these engines? This thing has about 80k miles on it. Just curious. If yes I assume I’ll need a new gasket or seal? I’d like to order some of this stuff in advance.

Very cool. Thanks for the replies. I'll get some gaskets ordered up and get checking this stuff to see if I can get everything cleared up.

I'm using an Innova code reader. See link below. You can get them on Amazon or Ebay, Summit, and many other sellers, etc.
