Any thief willing to grab a tailgate can open Bakflip tonneau covers with a coat hanger and 10 seconds. Those open by simply pulling a tension cable. They don’t lock. Slip a coat hanger between the seal and off you go. Easy peasy.

I’d go with something metal. Either just use the old hose clamp trick or go with something like Gate Keeper. Use some Loctite red (permanent) on the hardware.

My McGard is aluminum with a steel hose clamp (inside) and a rubbery plastic surround. But, I like the looks of this one above, the Gate Keeper. Definitely looks beafier.

This guy had never seen a McGard before. Took him about 10 seconds to remove. Crooks would be even faster. If that were the only option, I’d save my money. That McGard device is so worthless that it’s nearly fraudulent. Just use a hose clamp for $0.65.
