@Overkill2 you're right Propel is a different animal than B20. I wish that I could get a tank full also but it seems to be exclusive to certain areas. @Superduty450 where do you fill up with Propel?
People hate on California but there are some things they get right. There must be an option for high quality fuel elsewhere. I guess I'll have to continue to look.

I'd be one of them as I'm from a similar state and don't like it. But that fuel is the bomb. That's one thing they got right for sure.
Yeah 50 beats the 40 cetane that we have here, well minimum anyway so who knows for sure.
Yeah 40 is the minimum requirement in my state also. I have thought about why there isnt a national mandate for minimum cetane or at least a tiered system like gasoline. My only guess is that there is no incentive because diesel is so widely used that it will sell no matter what so why cut into margins by investing in making it better? I'd pay a little more for better fuel

I agree with about paying more for a better fuel. I may go back to buying Mobil Synergy fuel but not like it would be an increase in cetane in their fuel. They apparently put a cleaner in it but my additive is already a cleaner.

It's kind of like it is down here in Argentina, they sell 100 PPM and 10 PPM. Major difference in the cleanliness. 100 PPM is quite a bit cheaper and most people could care less about what it does in their engines. Cheap is best as far as they're concerned. So the stations have more pumps and larger tanks for the 100 PPM diesel as they sell more and more money.

Does 100 PPM refer to sulfur content? If so, the max here is 15 PPM sulfur. Is there a noticeable performance difference between the two grades of fuel?

Like most things, too much of something good, can be bad, same can be said for bio-diesel. Much more than 2-5% and the effects on lubricity are minimal if any. It actually can start to become worse in terms of lubricity the more that is added. Now Propel HPR and renewable diesel is a completely different beast and is quite impressive on paper, I think the benefits are negligible due to factory ECM tuning, would be nice to see what an ECM tuned for the fuel could do.
Also side note, the renewable diesel fuel isn't new and it's not just available in California, but it's subsidized to make it "affordable" there, so it's way more prevalent. I think last time I looked into it, it's made in an Asian place and shipped over here.
In the new trucks you can only use ULSD in these trucks. With how sensitive the fuel system seems to be in our trucks I will stick with regular diesel. I do have one of those stations about 20 miles from me. Not worth the round trip.
