No brake lights. Going crazy.
No brake lights. Was pulling a trailer and must have been wired wrong as it was popping the 10A fuse under the hood. All fuses test good with multimeter. All three brake bulbs look like they are on there way out but not completely burned out. Replaced with new and no change. Has remote starter. Normally when remote started and you hit the brakes the truck dies. That is not working currently. I have checked all fuses in the remote starter system and that’s all good. The brake sensor on the master cylinder that has to do with the recall I think is leaking. Truck already had the recall done and the 2 amp fuse was burned out. Replaced that and no change. Also replaced the brake switch attached to the brake pedal as the contacts looked rough and still no change. Any suggestions? Even without a trailer hooked up there is no brake lights.
it’s my dads truck and he needs it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
REMOVE IT
You'll have to do a significant amount of electrical testing if it doesn't resolve itself after the remote start removal. You've already discovered that you have an electrical short and there's no quick fix. Take your time and test each wire from the connector to the fuse box for continuity. You'll find it.

easy way to check your brake lights is to turn on the emergency flasher. They basically use the same circuit. Brake light/emergency flasher.
Thanks for the tip on the emergency flashers. I will take a look.
This is so annoying.
