Hey folks, I've been replacing the water pump on my 95 F250, and discovered one of the bolts was missing. My dad and I tried a bolt extractor, but it's not budging. What is the risk of it leaking? We have all the other bolts and we really need this truck running. If you refer to this post, it's the G bolt.
You might get lucky and avoid a leak. Or you might reassemble the whole motor and discover that you have a large leak and you need to tear the front of the motor apart. I think that if Ford thought you didn't need that extra bolt to seal the pump, they'd have omitted it and saved 3 cents per motor. Just drill it out and get it over with. It'll be much less of a pain than discovering a leak later.

That's one of the bolts that are open to the coolant passage behind it. Instead of an extractor, if you have a welding machine, weld a 9/16 nut (3/8 nut) over the broken end of the bolt, filling the center of the nut with weld. When the weld cools to grey, unscrew the bolt. This works 90% of the time. If it doesn't work the 1st time, try it again.
