Greetings everyone, first post. Recently purchased a 96 f-150 4wd, with 140k miles. Pretty decent shape, all things considered. Made it thru State inspection only needing with new ball joints, tie rod and some bushings, and alignment. Besides replacing the door strikes, headlight assemblies, and stereo, i haven’t done much else.
the thing that’s driving me crazy now is the power door locks. The driver and passenger side somehow are, for lack of better description, out of synch. Using switch on either door, when I lock the drivers side, the passenger side unlocks. And vice versa. Anyone ever see this before, or have any idea how to fix? Thanks!
My guess is one or both switches are bad? Since power is always there maybe the contacts are stuck/corroded? Maybe someone did some custom wiring. Time to pull the door panels, get out a test light and see what is going on.
Both of the switches work, but when you hit either one of them, to lock or unlock, the two door locks move in opposite directions.
another issue, on the drivers door, every now and then it won’t open from the outside, even if lock appears to be all the way up after unlocking with the key. Have to reach in the window and open with the latch.
anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for this circuit?

Reason: Addition
There are only two wires. One is power and the other is ground. When you hit the button in the other direction the wires change. The plug at the switch and and the plug at the lock solenoid can only go on one way. Maybe one of the solenoids is wired backwards? Don’t know why Haynes doesn’t have the lock circuit past ‘92 but it should be the same. The wire colors might be different but that’s easy enough to figure out.
Thanks, the diagram helps. Plan to tear into it this evening. Some of the parts sites show a power lock relay for 1996, which is not in this diagram - but this still helps.
