8' Bed interchange

Hi all. Will an 8' bed from a 1968 F-100 with right side tool box fit my 1970 F-250 Highboy with no toolbox?

Welcome to FTE.
1966 through 1972 are all considered 5th generation F series trucks. Both the F100 and the F250 had an 8ft, 131 inch wheel base. So, your only other issue would be mounting points. Since manufacturing is easiest and cheapest when everything stays the same, I would guess your answer is: Yes. If you have access to both beds, measure the mounting bolts to be certain. Distance from interior side wall to bolt head, on either side and again from the front wall and tailgate.

Your trucks are covered under the "Older, Classic and Antique Trucks" section and you will find many people with lots of knowledge there.

Don't forget to check out your state chapter too.

1967/72 F100/250 2WD/4WD Styleside beds are the same, 8' Styleside bed wheelbase is 131."

Post #2: 1966 is not the same! The bed sides are different as is the tailgate, the tool compartment is different, the tail lights are different.

Plus: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD 8' Styleside bed has a 129" wheelbase.

I know old thread but...... I'm doing this job right now. The bed I have has a tool box and side reflectors (just the holes) the reflectors (or lights) aren't there. I'm guessing it's 1968 plus. It's now on my 1970 High Boy. The tool box hit the spring hanger and I had to make a cut out for it. So for me it didn't quite fit but everything else fit. I have a question. What do the bolts or screws look like that hold the box to the quarter panel? Stupid me lost track of them. Looks like they are small sheet metal screws with huge heads. Picture of yours?

1968/69 F100/350 Stylesides have red marker REFLECTORS located at the lower rear section of the bed sides.

1970/72 F100/350 Stylesides have red marker LAMPS located at the end of the scallop (Bumpside) line.

Thank you sir! From what you said it seems my bed must be a 1970/72 Styleside.

This must be for a light.

The holes below the tail light hole must be for a reflector.

R/L Red reflectors below the Styleside tail lamps: 1969/72.
