I have a 95 f150 4x4. With a 5.0 an E4od f when I try an run a KOER the check engine light flash 4 times then once. It will rev up for about 45secs then idles down but starts popping sounding like a backfire from the exhaust before the check engine light even flash for you to hit the throttle. Any help would be awesome
The check engine light (MIL) flashing 4 times just says you have a 8 cyl engine.
Engine Identification Codes (ID Codes)
Engine ID codes are issued at the beginning of the Engine Running Self-Test and are one-digit numbers represented by the number of pulses sent out. For gasoline engines, the engine ID code is equal to one-half the number of engine cylinders (i.e. 2 pulses = 4 cylinders). These codes are used to verify the proper PCM is installed and that the Self-Test has been entered.
Then the one flash is the goose engine now flash.
The popping could be a lean fuel mix. Maybe low fuel pressure.
