Engine Swap Question
Found a low km 1994 5l 302 complete engine I can get for almost free.
Want to swap it into my 1994 F150.
Truck I'm pulling from has the 4r70w auto trans and mine has the E4OD. They're both 94 with 302.
The block out of his 94 f150 should mount up to my 1994 E4OD should it not?
I cant see them designing two different 302 blocks to fit different trans bell housings. Considering there were at least 3 types of auto trans in the 89 to 96 range.
Can anyone confirm this? I really want to go get this thing and do a light rebuild and swap them. It's got 180k km original on it and was running 2 months ago before he parked it.
Thanks
If you're gonna use the E4OD transmission, then toss the 4R70W flexplate in the scrap pile. Just reuse your E4OD flexplate. You dont want to get them mixed up and then have the wrong one on. There's no salvaging the transmission once its started with the wrong one installed.

Yeah I'll be pulling the flywheel off with the block.
Once I get her up on my mount to start pulling it apart I'll toss the 4r70w flywheel right away.
When I swap the engines I'll put the one on my truck onto the rebuild.
Thanks guys! Good info.
Looks like I'm a get me an engine to rebuild!!
