How does Perimeter Plus VSS work?
I installed the Ford Perimeter Plus w/ remote start in my XLT. The remote start works great. The security part is a little iffy. I’ve been playing with the sensitivity on the thing but it seems to be kind of hit or miss. At the MAX setting, it goes off if I walk next to the truck. At the MIN setting, it won’t go off for anything. I set it in the middle and left it there to see how it would work. I was next to the truck last night, about 4’ away. I put the lid on the trash can and it gave me a warning chirp. I decided to test it so I kicked the tires. Nothing. I grabbed the bed rail and shook the **** out of it. Nothing. I gave up and went about my business. This morning I was about 10’ away and started the lawn mower. It gave me another warning chirp. I then started mowing the lawn and it went off in full meltdown mode. Had to stop mowing and go get the keys to shut it off.
I can’t figure this thing out. Why does it not do anything when you make impact with the truck but it will go off when I’m feet away?

Thanks. I’ve got the manual and read the part about it ignoring rocking motions like the wind might cause. It just seems to ignore even a nice sharp rap on the glass. But at the same time it chirps when stomp on the ground a few feet away. I guess it’s working..... sort of.
