Blank Climate/Stereo Screen

Blank Climate/Stereo Screen
Just as my buddy with a Denali XL which is a hair's breadth away from being lemon lawed was admiring my brand new truck, he tells me that his screen sometimes shuts off.
I remote start my truck, get in to drive away and then, yup, my screen never turns on.
No radio, no climate control, there was warm air circulating, but no camera's, "no nothing" out of that screen.
I would get the "Ford" logo and then it would go blank.
I stopped the truck and restarted, same thing.
I stopped it, walked away, locked it, got back in, started, same thing.
Finally, I just decided to drive home (about an hour away) as I had my son with me and it was cold out.
Once I got home, I stopped it and did a remote start and the screen came back on and the GPS was still marking where I was last. Then it started working fine.
I haven't been able to make it do it again, but I'll try the remote start again later today.
I know some people had reported that the screen was just blanking out at times, but this was a persistent problem that I was thinking I was going to drop it off at the dealer.
Sigh....

I have also had some funny Sync 3 issues, mainly around connectivity and lack of sound. I did have the blank screen once also. I found a message in the F150 forum that provides a 'system reset'. Press the 'seek up' and 'power' button at the same time and hold for a few seconds and the Sync 3 reboots. You do not lose any settings or audio station presets. I have done this about 4 times in my first 10,000 miles and it fixed all the issues I described above, including the blank screen, upon the restart.

Here is a link to the Sync 3 manual. The "Soft Reset" as they call it, is outlined on page 113 of this manual.

My truck has experienced this once but then I seem to have many other problems. I posted in general topics to see if there is any Ford experts in here.
Let's hope it's isolated to the odd reboot of the system and not a whole host of electrical and built issues like my truck.
The Ford manager said that the system reboot is actually a good thing as it finds a fault then restarts. In your case it could be not restarting properly once it faults.

My '17 did it once when it had about 1000 miles on it. After several stops where it was shut down the screen was still dead. A day or two later it was fine. 9 months later it just did it to me again. I did the shut down and restart to no avail. Left it in the airport parking lot while I was out of town for a few days and voila...started up and it was working as if nothing was wrong. I did have control of the heat if I'm not mistaken. It was cold the morning I drove to work and I'm pretty sure the manual control panel gave me heat. Will have to note the soft reset procedure for next time and see if that works. Come to think of it. This latest event may very well have been after a remote start. I will have to write it all down the next time it happens.

Ironic this gets posted today. Remote started after work, got in the truck and the screen was blank. Shut off and on 3 or 4 times, no change. Made a 45 minute stop on the way home to visit mom in rehab and when I left, all is working again. I have Sync3 3.0. Have to check in the AM to see what, if anything has changed.

Fat fenders, just do the reboot, when you experience this, and even when it's fine once in a while. You have to hold the power button and the forward seek at the same time for a few seconds, then you will see the screen fire up to atleast the Ford logo, then release. It can take a while. I have only done this twice in a year. But I have witnessed it doing a boot on it's own on a few occasions as well.
