Regen at 85%?

Truck goes into exhaust regen on the way home from work. Earlier today I checked the display and it was at 80% and I drove about 5 miles. While heading home I get the cleaning exhaust filter message so I looked at the display. It showed 85%. Has anyone seen this before? Usually it gives a exhaust filter full message, not 85%.

FWIW, this is the first regen since I had the def issue earlier this month. I changed def and corrected the problem but now this. I don't think this is a coincidence.

It is not uncommon to have a regen prior to 100% or getting the message about the exhaust filter full. Earlier this week I had one start at 90% and in the past while towing at lower percentage.

As Just Strokin said, it’s not uncommon. If anything, it’s a good thing. Your computer is going to do a mandatory regen on your truck if you haven’t reached 100% in the last 500 miles. I’ve gone as far as 550 miles before my computer triggered a regen.

There is a mileage thing where It will regen if you have reached the 500 miles to empty threshold. While sometimes it can be exceeded it may be what has occurred.
