Water temp sending unit

Water temp sending unit

I have an 87 4.9 efi and it has two sending units for water temp. I need to replace the one that goes to ecu and was wondering if both are same units or is one different from the other

They are different. The one you are looking for is located in the thermostat housing at the front of the engine.

do you know the part number or what I need to buy??

I am not certain of Ford's number, but all parts stores have a replacement as they were used for many years on many engines.
