A2b, Usually the sending unit is near the front, or on the right side (facing engine) it will usually have one wire connected to it and will be on top near a water inlet connection (some have it on the rad hose spout (connecting to the rad top (Hose) )
And some has it on the thermostat housing .... abet it will be clear to you if you get a haynes manual and while there pick one up at your local parts store and it will look exactly like the one you'll be replacing.

thanks. i was spending alot of time at the back of the motor near the oil pressure sending unit. i am putting in a manual water temp guage. i hate these gauges that just say "normal" on them...i got know the real temp to make me comfortable
