My 1956 F100 has the original wiper switch (electric) with **** and I think the bezel. The bezel has the WIPER lettering embedded into it. The switch and **** are in good condition so I'd like to reinstall them. However, I'm not certain the bezel fits correctly. The wiper switch hole in the dash to the left of the steering column is recessed like the hole for the light switch. But, the back side of the wiper bezel is flat with a small pin sticking out to index it with a slot in the dash. The light switch bezel is not flat on the back side and made to fit the recessed hole in the dash. Do I have the correct wiper switch bezel or should it be made like the light switch bezel?
According to Mid- fifty parts the bezel is the same. 53-56. I have a 55 but am assuming the hole is the same since the bezel is the same. I assembled the switch and the nub on the back of the bezel does catch the slot in the dash, and does not move.
wiper switch hole on the right
Thanks. The hole in my dash is recessed like what avf100 posted, but its D-shaped to index the switch and has only a slot on the bottom to engage the bezel. So, I guess what I have is correct. Just seems like the bezel could have been designed better.
Another question. When I got the truck it came with some new parts that were never installed. One is a wiper motor kit that included the motor with a red, green, and black wires coming out of it, a switch that is a push/pull type, a relay, and some wiring. I have no instructions for it. It seems to be a two speed switch but I have no idea what the relay is for. It has a Dennis Carpenter part number on the box, B6C-17508-RR. But the current versions of this kit have a different switch and no relay. Does anybody know what I have? Can I just buy the new style switch that Dennis Carpenter sells and eliminate the relay? Can I use my original switch with this motor and eliminate the relay? The wire colors coming out of the motor are correct per my Ford service manual.
