so I broke my side window, I thought it would of shattered like the old windows but they don't shatter. I made a video incase anyone else has to do there window as well..one word of advice is be careful with the door latch cable, I had everything back together and the door panel slip and I dropped it, trying to film and do things with one hand. and it broke. I crazy glued it and was able to put it back together and it is working but I think its broken again lol. anyway heres the
Ouch. Yep, many don’t know that the front door windows are laminated safety glass. I would like the back doors to have it too. It would make breaking in a lot more difficult.

A couple years ago one of the back side windows completely blew out on a hot day when I shut the opposite door. The window that blew out was facing the sun, and I guess it just couldn't handle the sudden change in pressure. It shattered into a thousand little pieces. maybe a few thousand little pieces.

This, IMHO, is very serious safety concern. This shows me that if you were to run off into water, you are screwed. That window won't shatter with a punch or other device and you can't open the door until the water pressure equalizes which means you are under water inside the cab. Maybe I'm missing something. Tempered glass, yes. laminated safety glass, no, except the windshield.
My understanding is that the switch to laminated front door glass has to do with the side impact air bags. In the event of a side impact the engineers didn't want all those little cubes of glass being driven into you face and eyes by the airbag.

I can see that. But..... what about the under water scenario or for that fact, just a cab fire and the door wont open??? If you can't break that glass you are toast. Literally. Is that why the rear doors are just tempered? One has to climb into the back seat to break out a window?
