Window help needed
At the track today, hit the PW switch and the glass fell to the bottom
Thanks JWA for your door panel removal thread as I didn't have my shop manual
With a set of channel locks was able to get the window up to about 5 in from the top. We can area metal cable loose at the bottom. Anyone know if that needs to be inserted somewhere?
The motor makes a normal noise
Any help on how to fix on the road as well as how to get the window all the way up is appreciated
Thanks!! Mike

Yep on this-----once the regulators from '92 and forward break they're not repairable.
For temporary repairs you can raise the window as far as possible as is or cut the cable and position it where needed. Using a bit of masking or similar tape on the inside bottom of the glass so it also contacts the re-installed door panel.
You can also use tape at the top on the outside over lapping the glass and door shell, both methods work in the short term.
Having replaced a few of these there's not a huge difference in apparent quality between OEM and aftermarket imported, NAPA for example. Last I bought for a customer cost me $108 with a trade discount from Ford.
Sucks to have this happen away from home----hope this info helps even a little bit!

Stop at the hardware store and get a piece of 1"x1" wood (most stores sell shorts dirt cheap (and will cut for you to length) *might be able to use a piece of 1" PVC pipe also.
Make a notch in the top of the wood for the glass bottom to set in and wedge it inside the door itself (remove the Plastic panel and the dust seal).
get it the right length and it will hold the window up and in place until you can return home.
If you tape it someone can easily get into your vehicle.
I found my replacement regulator and the scissor mechanism on Amazon for $60 shipped and it was a chore to replace but it works great now.
Good luck.

Thanks to all!!
With vice grips we got the window to about 4 in from the top. Didn't want to force it higher
Saw the rely from vettex2 last night and bought one at Pep Boys in Bakersfield. Didn't have my shop manual with me so I'll get into it tomorrow
Heading home, 85 in the desert, visor blocks a decent amount of hot air
Again, thanks to all!! Mike
