Yes, I had a transmission guy I know tell me to use it. Looks like you're getting a new torque converter. Good, it's impossible to flush the junk out of all the crevices in a torque converter. Most places won't warranty a transmission with out a new or reman torque converter.

And she's out.

This might be a stupid question, but aren't stock converters painted? The C4 and C6 trans that I've worked on before, the TC was painted blue.

At any rate, its out. Still have a tool to build for pump removal, so I won't be starting teardown until tomorrow or Thursday.

Progress is progress...

I've used a couple pieces of all thread , a couple washers nuts, and a long flat bar across the bellhousing to pull the pumps out of other transmissions before in lieu of a slide hammer. That worked well in the past. I am not familiar with the ford ones to know if that would work or not but it was easy to throw together quickly.

Actually the video from Transmission Bench I'm using includes making a tool just as you describe - which is what I am making tomorrow.

No leakage...

Well I got the trans moved into the garage, and the TC out.

Anyone have any info on when Ford changed to the new seals? I don't see any evidence of a leak in the bellhousing. With 220k miles I would've thought there would be something...

Since this has turned into a trans rebuild thread, further posts will be in the transmission forum.
