Help Please-2.9 won't run!
I have an 89 ranger with the 2.9, it started to knock so i swapped it for a 2.9L out of a 90 ranger “California” model. The problem im having is it will crank, im getting spark, fuel, and its in time but it will not run just pops back thru exhaust. I have swapped all the sensors, and ignition parts from the old engine due to the 90 model being designed for MAF and the old one was not. I have called my local ford dealer and they seem to think the “mechanical timing” is different between the two. I cant find any info on it so im at a loss on how to fix it. Any help would be wonderful ive been working on the problem for almost 6 weeks now.
