One thing though if we are expanding, it would have to be less than the speed of light, if not, the light from stars would never reach us. And then the idea of light years, may be flawed.

Right, we can only see what we can see that is not traveling faster than the speed of light from us. But if the actual eternity is endless than there can be all kinds of things that travel in wave form blasting away from us.
This is like calling the Earth Flat just one hundred centuries ago. To actually believe the Big Bang was the Center of all things is sort of like saying The Universe is flat. Maybe in Billions of years when Andromeda is messing with the Milkey Way a planet may zing past earth and drop off a get well note. But knowing the Human he won't give a crap about that! Our decedents will most likely have evolved & roll around like big beach ***** by then. You know, like sands on a beach all having a great bumping time of it. Having been Chipped meant man didn't need feet, they gone. Then no reason to have legs, they gone too. Soon Ai make man stuff so he didn't need thumbs or hands, then arms. So, osmosis took over and Nose, chin, teeth, big mouths all melted away. Ya got to figure the ***** all headed for Water and bopped and bobbed away the unlimited sunlight. Soon the Oceans hummed with life and depth wasn't a big deal. Earth now mostly blue & white with clouds colors gone, never again, anymore, mostly just Mississippi mud grey. The grand experiment Earth, not gone, but faded to Mud. You knew all this when you were 3 years old. Mama told you! Maybe a newborn Sun from Andromeda will grab What is now called Mud and sling it into an orbit with it. The sun having 'No Sol' anymore and the new Solar System Suns named Roger.
The what's left of Earth resembling Old Venus, Jupiter having gobbled up most stuff finally made it to a Dwarf and off on its lonely way.
