Have a 89 f150 with leaking plastic side tanks.I understand that these modine rads will will mount like the stock rad. My question, will it also have plastic side tanks? Is this good or bad? Also, this truck has the tow pkg, looks like could be a 3 core[have not checked yet) radiators.com offers a 2 core, what do you think? THANKS FOR HELP.
LAST EDITED ON 08-Feb-01 AT 07:22 PM (EST)[p]I have a Modine in mine right now. My original one developed a crack on one of those plastic caps. But it was in a spot I couldn't see until I had the radiator out. The Modine I got was a 2 row (#2189) but with my 300-6, the fan clutch sat about 3/4" from the radiator and that's too close for comfort. So I'll be installing the 1 row (#2185) this weekend. The Modine's bolted right in wihtout any mods. It took about 45 minutes in all, including draining and filling.
I'd check carparts.com to get the part number you need, then call radiator.com. Radiator.com has the best prices, not to mention free next day delivery.
I put a Modine in my Bronco a couple of months ago. The guy at the auto parts where I ordered it from said it wouldn't be plastic. But when it came in it was. He said it was the only way they make them for my truck. I figured why not at least it has a lifetime Warrenty.
Actually, if you're looking for rads, check out UAP/NAPA... They have a wide selection of good rads for damn near anything, good prices too... Thatz where i got my new rad, and i haven't had any trouble with it...

I had to replace the radiator in my Bronco because the plastic tank was leaking. Put a modine in over a year ago and have not had a problem since.I used to run an auto parts shop and they are the only brand I would tell my customers to order if they were going to keep the vehicle.
OK, my 2 cents.
I just put a 2 core in my F-250, upgrading from a 1 core. Bought it from Napa, it's a modine. I had to drill 2 holes in the top for the shroud nutplates to fit; other than that iw was great. Napa honores the competorers price of 196. my only complaint is that it wasn't painted. I sprayed the top black to match the rest in there.
Now, I just compaired shopped at radaitors.com, they list it at 209, pay 139! free shipping. Wow! now if it its a modine perfect.
I would go ahead and keep the 2 core in it. Extra radaitor space is just insurance, you may need the extra cooling someday and the difference for me was onlt 15 dollars. Also the 2 core has this handy area for setting tools on while working up there.

Thanks for the info guys, my wifes mustang has a leaky rad. I checked out http://radiators.com and their price was $100.00 cheaper than ford with a lifetime warranty and free overnight shipping what a deal!!!! John
Today I picked up a new radiator for my '95 F-150. My stock radiator's plastic tanks were leaking. To my surprise the radiator which I got from AutoZone is a 3 row all metal radiator. It's a pretty amazing looking radiator all for $169.99, they have a 2-row listed for $159.99. I am extremely happy so far. Check www.autozone.com I purchased mine at a local store.Doug
