Yes, the fix is to resolve the door switch issue (which is either a bad switch or a broken wire). Or you can add a toggle switch to the radio power wire and turn it off that way, which would be a poor idea.

What he said. ^^^

The way it's "supposed" to work is that the Accessory Delay Relay remains on, powering the radio and the power windows, until either a door opening is detected or the accessory relay delay timer expires (~40 10 minutes). { edited }

Your 'fix" circumvented the trigger to turn off the accessories.

The radio and power windows are powered by the accessory delay relay for 10-minutes after the key is turned off or until a door is opened, whichever comes first. The battery saver relay turns the interior lights off 40-minutes after a door is left open. So you can either fix the door switches, manually turn the radio off, or just leave it and it will turn off in 10-minutes all on it's own.

I agree with the rest although I don't think that it is 40 minutes. I think it's ten. The door switch went out of my 02 and it just became a habit to reach over and flick the radio off as I turned the key off. The lights underneath the window switches would stay lit up though for a short while afterwards though.

Yep, ten minutes is correct for the ADR. Edited above.

Good catch! Thanks, guys!

Dumb question here, but would not turning off the radio before turning off the truck cut off the power to it notwithstanding the door ajar switch?

I don't think that I follow what you are saying. The radio stays on after the key is turned off until the door is opened, if the door switch isn't functioning then the radio doesn't get a signal to turn off, turning off the key doesn't make the buttons on the radio quit working so even after the key is off you can turn the radio on or off until either ten minutes has gone by or a door has been opened.
