Newbie Sync / Maps ?

So I have an Apple iPhone, all works well with Sync. However, often I get ready to go somewhere, my phone lights up, and wanting to suggest map. Today, I was headed to a place as every Wed morning, it pops up on my iPhone for directions to said place, like wow. It's the Apple maps not Google maps.
How in *&^%$ do I turn this off? thanks

The iPhone learns your “habits” so you that’s why said map directions pop up on your iPhone with Apple Maps.

The same thing happens on my iPhone but I also get suggestions for an alarm time in the morning because I get up early and I often hit the snooze button on my phone several times before I finally get up.

I haven’t tried this yet but it makes sense to me so try the instructions below.

To disable this, you’ll have to go into settings on the iPhone, scroll down to maps and tap said button, then tap location, and then tap Never or Ask Next Time because more than you have While Using the App checked.

Thanks GABAR, pretty much what I did. I actually did some more research (Google was helpful turning off iPhone stuff, lol), On iPhone, settings, privacy, location services, maps, and plenty to turn off. We'll see if that stops.

The iPhone learns your “habits”

And no one finds that a little bit creepy?

Haha, I find it very creepy. Seems many apps reset themselves after updates too. The phones have ears.............

Not really because if one uses Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, both setups are learning your habits wherever you go with the phone on your person or in your vehicle.

This also applies to whenever or whatever you use the phone for and your wireless provider knows almost everything.

And this is why I keep the GPS/location services turned off on my phone.

Welcome to the filter bubble. We are surrounded by it and Apple is by no means alone in this regard.

No thanks. Apple, Google, AT&T, etc don't need to know where I am or where I'm going.

If you use a smartphone at all, regardless of location settings, they know where you are. Can use WiFi / cell data to estimate position which will get darn close. Even without WiFi or cell data they can use 3 cell towers and triangulate position.

I believe the ability to do this is baked into the "terms and conditions" that no one reads and agrees to by using any flavor smart phone. I don't think there is a way to fully opt out of everything.

This is true. But I don't have to hand them a personalized map either....

If you ever get the personalized "where you went this week/month" from Google, it will show a blank whenever you have GPS turned off. I will occasionally turn GPS on if I am in an unfamiliar area. When I'm done I turn it back off. Afterward when Google send me the where you went information, it's like I teleported from one place to another,

Doesn't matter. The chip they implanted during your last visit to the dentist tells them everything they need to know.
