left turn signal
87 Ranger....2.9L.....5 speed....4x4. Yesterday exterior lights except headlights wouldn't shut off...turn signals, park lights, tail lights, license plate lights. Replaced the headlight switch but no luck. Discovered the left turn signal and hazards don't flash anymore, right turn signal is ok. Finally figured out where the power was coming from...an old trailer light wire under the truck. Disconnected it from the battery and light's turn off and flashers work. Now the problem is the flashers only work when the lights are off. Right turn signal still works ok. Does anyone know what is causing this problem?

I have a book and I've been looking at the wiring and it looks ok, but I'm not too experienced with the electrical stuff. I think I'll have to take it to the shop. Today the turn signals started working with the lights on but faded out after about 4 flashes. Now with the lights on the left one does nothing, the right one and the hazards work sometimes and sometimes not. With the lights off, the turn signals and the hazards flash and so do the dash lights and radio lights! Sometimes the dash light stays on when I shut my truck off and take the key out. It shuts off when the dimmer **** is turned down, right before the dome light clicks on! I think my truck is haunted!
