It's a 302 simple as that and yes they were made in the Windsor engine plant. There is no such thing as a 302w or 302c. A 302 truck engine shares basic architecture with the car engine.
Up until this generation the only engine families to get EFI were the Windsor platform and 385 series, so yes your truck has a 302w. The mustang 5.0 was the same basic motor but it had some different internal parts(cam and pistons) and wore a different intake, heads are the same though.
302 can be referred to as 302W but it is not.
It is simply "302". You might differentiate the Mustang 302 from "other" 302's by calling it a "302 H.O. (high output)".
When talking about a 351 however, it is proper to distinguish it by calling it a 351C or 351W or 351M.

Not all Mustang 302/ 5.0L engines were “High Output” so that isn’t entirely true either.
Well, with that clarified, if the shifter stalk is the original one and has a push button, your truck is equipped with an E4OD auto trans (you can also get under the truck and count 22 bolts on the pan, AOD should have like 14?). Your transfer case should be a Borg Warner BW1356.
i dont think a 89 302 had the e40d just the 351. should be that way 86-90. 91 is when they all had e40ds. i could be wrong but ive never seen it. these are the od autos. looks like 90 was the first year for e40d even. however seems like some late build 89s had it.
