I replaced the blend door actuator already and the passenger side blows cold in the winter . I have dual climate controls . I hear some flapping noise behind the dash upon start up . I was wondering if there is 2 blend doors since it has dual climate control. If there is 2 where is the passenger one location? This is on a 2006 expedition.
I assume you mean blend door actuator, not the actual blend door itself right ? There's one for the driver's side down at the bottom. Have to remove the center console to see it at the bottom of the HVAC box. I don't know if that is your issue or not, but that's where it's located.
Yes I meant to say actuator. I replace the one on top it was very difficult to get the last screw out but I did it. It was also difficult to put the new one in . I thought the top one was for the driver side . I'm wondering if my blend door is broken now cause I her some flapping when I start it up . My drivers side blows hot and cold fine .
On dual climate control optioned Expies the top actuator is the passenger control and the bottom is the drivers side. Do you hear just one "flap" on start up ? That's normal. If you hear several then there might be another issue. Can you better isolate where the "flap" is coming from ? There's a floor vent actuator and a recirculate door that's vacuum operated, which would better coincide with the vacuum available on startup. Your Temp control Actuators are electric and will operate with the key in the RUN position. If you're not getting any clicking when you run the temps up and down the scale then those actuators are OK.
When it is super cold here (like -20F), cold air comes in the passenger side. I have attributed this to the outside air vent, as the cold air stops if you put the recirculate on.
Not sure if this is something wrong with a door somewhere or just how the system works when bringing fresh air in....any thoughts on that may be helpful.
