Probably...in my younger days, I'd just drop the durn thing, rebuild it, and have it back on the road by noon or so...LOL!!! The spirit is still willing, but the body is old and creaky... Did the glow plugs a couple weeks ago, and adjusted the alternator, it was all I could handle... Back in the day, that was a "pass the time" gig while waiting for the store to open...

Hard to beat this starter for the price. It's gear reduction.

That's the Denso starter the Mitsu starter also a gear reduction unit (planitary reduction) has a better chance of fitting in terms of clearance is full roller bearing support and has a starter drive support, unlike the denso unit.
And can be found cheaper.

Ok, stuck a reman in it...what a world of difference... It was a gear reduction type...so I got to replace it with like type. This clears up most if not all the starting issues I've had...yippee! The old one was falling apart...the long rods holding the starter body together were loose and could not be tightened up... Final test will be in the am...lets see how it starts when stone cold...will get down to the mid to upper 30s tonite..
