West Coast Mirror Question

Anybody know why one set of west coast mirrors mounts right below the window and the other set mounts farther down? Is one set a bumpside set? The bracket that mounts farther down on the door is also wider (the horizontal pieces are "longer", making the mirror stick out wider)

First picture shows the two brackets on my truck. Next two pictures are from two different trucks that show the different mounting.

The factory original set on my '74 model mounts up under the window opening as you have pictured.

My guess is the lower mounted one is either off something else or bent.

Well the blue truck has them mounted lower than the brown truck.

The blue truck set is actually the set I have in my picture that shows it mounting lower (and is wider). I have another set of west coast mirrors that fit the same way as the blue truck set. So either I keep getting unlucky and buying bumpside sets or im doing something wrong lol.

Also my original set was missing the 3rd arm and when I threw a spare on, it mounts pretty high (coompared to the blue truck and brown truck).

If you dont mind and you have a minute, can you grab a couple of pics (front and back) of your 74? Thanks!

I took them off a while back , but I know I'm right because I remember welding up the holes so I could use the doors on my '76. they were right below the window opening for sure.

I think I still have them and if I do they are in nice shape. if you want I'll look and you can have them for the shipping cost, I know they're original because my dad bought this pickup new.

Oh i believe you! Cz my truck thats where the holes are! I just like to have pictures that match what I have so I know im not crazy LOL (besides finding pics off the internet). I just cant believe I have bought two sets that dont fit! (technically... I guess I can always drill new holes to make them work) If you still have them I would gladly pay shipping! Ill shoot you a pm.

Isn't the set you have correct? it looks like it's right below the window as it should be.

either way I looked and I do have them. the driver side is in great shape but the passenger side has a few issues, it was a ranch rig it's whole life so I should have expected it. it has a little soft bend in the main bow behind the mirror glass which wouldn't be hard to fix. and the bottom of the bow has some rash from ranch hands hauling pipe in it . it could be sanded and buffed out if you wanted to put the work into it. shoot me your number and I can text you a picture to see if you want it.

Yes and no lol Whats on their in the original holes is a hodge podge of parts. The rusty main frame is my original mirrors. the 3rd arm is from one of the new sets that I have. I already sent you a PM with my number, My original mirrors are pretty bad off so if they are in better shape or I can make a good set out of a combination, Im willing to put some elbow grease in lol. So feel free to shoot me a pic, thanks!

The 3rd steady rest arm and the bracket it attaches to is different 1973/79 vs. 1967/72.

Thats what I am thinking, the set that is pictured on the blue crew cab came from a bumpside and was just mounted on the dentside.
I was hoping someone could definitively tell me the bracket I am holding on my truck and the bracket on the blue crewcab pictured, is from a bumpside.
For now I will just have to continue on with the assumption that that is true lol. Thanks for the pic!
