I'm looking for help in identifying what mirrors I have and what trucks/vans in any make or model have this style of mirror that swivels and has the 90* L bracket that goes in through the side. I'm looking for replacement glass and can't find it. Turns out the driver side is not OEM as close as it looks to the passenger housing, it is actually slightly smaller. The passenger one measures about 10.125 by about 7.125 if I remember. I'm looking to just get an entirely new housing off of eBay or local junk yard and paint it so I know exactly what it is off of when I need new glass again. Truck is a 1978 F150 5.8L 351M. Thanks everybody.
Looks close to a type 8...about any glass/ mirror/windshield shop should be able to cut you a new piece of glass. If you can get the mirror off (ck for 1 bolt on the bottom of the mount tube) and take it to them.
Hey thanks, I've seen those pictures before with all the different styles. I guess I'll just grab a camper style mirror off an e150 or any truck older than a 90's at pullapart. I'd rather not have to get one made

It's not a Type 8, it's a 'gypo' aftermarket auto parts store mirror. Type 8's were stainless, this puppy isn't.
Lower pic shows the Type 8, compare it with the OP's mirror.
I took an old mirror from a projector TV, went to Menards and bought a glass cutter, and cut some new glasss for my Type 7 mirrors. One fell out so I need to cut out another. The mirror head needs to be crimped around the mirror glass to hold it on. I used pliers with a rag around the jaws to keep from marring the mirror housing.

No mirror of any year Ford truck mounts on the hood. Type 4's were usually installed on 1961/67 Econolines, but were also installed on 1969/79 Econolines (see upper pic).
Type 5 was the standard equipment L/S manual mirror for F100/350, Bronco & Econoline. But none were factory installed, were placed in the cab at final assembly. because the dealers installed all the outside mirrors.
1000's were THROWN AWAY by dealers, because most people didn't want them.
By the way ty.Harris, that's a bitchin' looking truck!
Is that a factory color for your year? Looks kind of like a Ford color, but maybe a little off for being newly sprayed. Looks wonderful, no matter what it is though.
Good luck with the mirror thing. It deserves the best!
Sorry y'all, I don't check my email and the weather in Ohio is crazy. Woke up to snow this morning and it's suppose to be nearly 70 tomorrow. But thanks, the pictures make it look waaaaay better than it actually does. It's still a beat up truck, just a little prettier, but no it's not factory, it's coastal blue single stage from summit racing
The bolt holes in the door skin. Are they the same spacing between a type 7 and type 9. I have type7 on the pickup but would like the type 9 instead.
I have 2 sets of type 9.
Good question though. They do look pretty close. I had Type-8's though, so measuring mine won't do any good. Plenty of 9's around here though. Someone should have that dimension for you.
