I just purchased a 2019 F150 XLT 4WD in December of 2019. I recently added a 2.5" leveling kit to lift the front of the truck up and added 35" tires on my OEM rims. A ford dealership by my house mounted the tires on the truck and performed an alignment. About 4 days after I tried to make a sharp left handed turn and a couple of days later i made a sharp right handed turn, both times the truck started wobbling like the wheel was about to come off the hub. Also I have noticed when I going around a right handed curve i have to turn my steering wheel almost 160 degrees to make it around the curve. I check to see if maybe my tires are rubbing my upper control arm because I did put 35" x 12.5" mud tires on the truck, but there is no indication that the tires are rubbing. Can someone please help me figure out what could be causing this problem?
Don’t have an answer, just some advice - take it back to the dealer that did the tire/alignment work to have them check everything over vs you doing anything yourself.
Sounds like you installed the leveling kit yourself?
did you have this issue after you installed the leveling kit, but before you got the new tires?
Even if they say nothing is wrong, you’ll have at least documented the issue.
Sounds like a loose steering shaft. Who mounted the leveling kit? Your wheel should never turn that much. Get it back to the shop ASAP.
Oh, I almost forgot. Welcome to FTE! We’re glad you chose us.
JKBrad,
I had the leveling kit put on by a custom shop near my house but brought the truck to Gateway Ford to have the truck aligned and have the pigeon toe fixed. As shown below this is how far i have to turn my steering wheel to get the tire to turn slightly. When im going around a curve if to turn my steering wheel like i am pulling into a parking lot.
