The fuel pump lube. I must be dumb to this phrase.
If you are running a new diesel of any brand you need a lubricant additive for your fuel. I didn’t use any and my HPFP failed at 150k. Ford diesel mechanic said I needed to use lube. God knows they didn’t use any lube on me when I got the bill. $8k

I got ya I do use some just never heard it put like that.
For those interested, here is the guidance from the owners manual:
Diesel Fuel Additives
It should not be necessary to add any aftermarket additives to your fuel if you use a high quality diesel fuel that conforms to ASTM industry specifications. Aftermarket additives can damage the fuel injector system or engine.
However, most still add some type of additive to increase Cetane levels or provide lubrication. I have used Power Service for decades and have never had any issues and while I know most follow the “latest and greatest”, I will stick with what I have the most experience in using. On a side note, I have read that Power Service Diesel Kleen and Diesel Fuel Supplement both contain demulsifiers and I have also read articles that claim it does not contain demulsifier. Diesel 911 is an emulsifier and should only be used in an emergency. While I have traveled with a bottle of 911 over the years, I have never used it and most likely never will.
I have been using whatever I buy. Tried many different ones with no noticeable difference but will continue to use something for most fill ups. Anybody have any experience with Alliant ultra guard? A friend highly recommends this.
I us PM-22. The owners manual recommends using a fuel with a cetane rating of 45. Most that are labeled locally to me have a rating of 40, So I use a cetane booster that also adds extra lubrication. That HPFP is an expensive part to fail. I'll do what I can to help prevent it. Water in fuel is something that a cetane booster wont help but the extra lubrication isn't going to hurt anything.
