i have a 1995 xlt 3.0 2wd 5spd manual ranger i got from an auction and the truck has 2 extra connectors behind the radio which i am assuming to be the GEM module which isnt there. i dont know what GEM module to be looking for. The 2 connectors i have are one with 2 wires and another with 10 plus wires. What is the difference between the F67B-14B205-DA and the F57B-14B205-AE GEM modules and which do i need?
Best way to identify the part number for your exact vehicle will be to go to a Ford dealer parts counter with the vehicle VIN and have them tell you. The GEM is a programmable module, so with this in mind it may be that even though you get one with the correct part number, it still needs to be programmed to work in your vehicle. Easiest way to *try* to get around programming is to get one from a JY vehicle that has the same vehicle options supported by that GEM, as the vehicle you are working on. A few option examples might be RKE, power locks and windows. Food for thought, let us know what you find.
^ + 1 on trying a friendly Dealer parts department, if you can't get the difference in the part number clarified on the Ford parts web site, by entering your vehicle VIN # here https://parts.ford.com/en.html?searc...170213154229:s The Ford site calls it a Multi-Function Module.
It's going to be a reman part, even from Ford, so once you determine the correct number for how your vehicle is equipped, you might try different auto parts stores using discount codes listed here https://www.retailmenot.com/, to help with sticker shock.
If you have a trusty salvage yard, they should have catalog & online info with other yards on a used part & the price will likely be better, at least negotiable & they'll likely warranty it to work.
