Not sure if I should post this in the engine forum/thread or here because it’s a 77 Ford truck.
Pretty sure I’m going to be needing a starter sooner rather than later. Engine is pretty much a stock ‘77 460. C6 trans.
Is there a brand of starter or a certain manufacturer that you would use. I guess what I’m asking is does anyone have a preference for a good quality starter?
I don’t feel I need some $200+ hi torque type starter but don’t feel like ending up with any junk that I’m replacing in 6 months either.
The Ford starter with the external slave solenoid is still the best for the $. The one thing to be careful of on rebuilt starters is the gear drive, you want one with a NEW gear drive and not a rebuilt one. If there is a local rebuilder that would be your best bet.
