high tourque starter drags.
I just installed a high tourque staryer from a 96 460 onto my 79 F-250. The engine in the truck is a 73 lincoln 460. The problem is that the starter drags for about 5 seconds after I let go of the key. I checked the solinoid on the fender, it releases power with the key. I have a jumper wire from the main power wire at the starter to the (s) terminal at the starer. I thought it was the solinoid on the starter so I replaced it. the same thing with the new starter and solinoid. Any Ideas?. Thanks.

I need to know the exactitude of this myself. But if it's the same as other Ford engines, you need to match starters with the type of transmission, i.e. a manual starter has to go with a manual transmission and an auto starter has to go with an auto trans.
