Hi, I have a 2010 Ford f150 and I got the rear left door ajar on the dash screen and I took it to a repair shop and they Fixed it for about 6months so a year later I finally had time to check it out and notice that one wire was just wrapped around an another wire and electrical tape together,it looks like an extension wire. then I noticed that there is no harness to unclip all the wires look to be spliced together and them are actually soldiered together. so I soldiered the loose wire together and recapped all the wires and the light is still on and saying rear left door aja . Any idea what is wrong? do I need to purchase a new harness and re wire it?
If that's how those yahoos 'fix' things, there could be more connections like that.
If you're sure of your solder connection, it would be worth looking around what you can find of the wiring plus the door switches, connectors and probably the 'body control computer' -- a box that probably takes the connections and feeds them to the instrument panel and other places. Also check the actual door switches.
You MIGHT be able to find an online version of alldata at your local library tht will show some of the physical locations and might have a good wiring diagram (or it might not).
Depending on what else they did, a new wire harness might NOT fix things. Also, I'm just betting that it will be expensive and a real PITA to install, If this is your only issue, you might want to live with it. and hope that there's nothing else about to fail.
thanks for replying, I would leave it but the interior lights stay on unless I turn the light switch to off and the rear passenger window cant be used unless the driver uses the rear window switch up front.
