Since Ford has removed any sort of aux-in for newer trucks, I'm searching for a solution. I have a 2020 F350 and a handheld scanner (BCD436), and I would like to be able to send the audio through the truck speakers as it makes is much easier to hear what's going on. The Bear Cat only has a standard headphone jack as output besides the speaker. With no 3.5mm aux input in the truck, I tried a 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter on the scanner. However, when I try to connect, I get an error on the truck's screen saying the bluetooth device doesn't support Sync features, and it refuses to connect. As far as I have been able to tell, the USB ports on the truck only support connecting to a phone (Android Auto, CarPlay, etc) or charging a device.
Does anyone know of a bluetooth transmitter that would work with Sync or any other way to get an audio aux-in on a 2020? Thanks.
What truck engine, specs, stereo, trim level, make model year? I have two USB inputs to my Lariat Ultimate. Aux cables are a thing of the past, but you might be able to find a patch cord from aux to USB? We also have Bluetooth connectivity, you can upgrade your scanner to Bluetooth connection? Depends on your truck tech.

As mentioned, it's a 2020 F350, and the trim level is King Ranch ultimate with navigation. I have read others trying a 3.5mm to USB adapter and not having any success in getting the truck to recognize the input. The bluetooth transmitter I purchased and attempted (Anker Soundsync) didn't work. The Unidon scanners don't have any sort of bluetooth connectivity built in.
Have you tried one of those little FM devices that broadcast into your radio?
In my older toy cars (80s cars with 80s stereos) I have those gadgets and I think they have 1/8" inputs
In theory you could plug your scanner iinto it, you set it to some random unused FM channel like 88.9 and you can hear whatever you have plugged into it through your radio.
I have a couple of these, or well they look like these, probably all different brands

An FM transmitter may end up being how to do it, though I left those behind years ago. I was hoping for a higher fidelity solution.
Sadly I think things like CBs and Scanners are such lo-fi devices it doesnt look like they (as an industry) are charging into the 21st century audio output wise.
I would LOVE an integrated CB or scanner that comes through the stereo.
How nice would it be to have either device integrated enough so that your squelch level is set to your desired level of intrusion and then whatever you are listening to (Radio, blue tooth, media input, etc) that when you get a CB or scanner call the stereo dips and the transmission comes through the stereo like a phone call would.
Thats a dream to me.
I use the Scanner Radio app on my phone and connect via Bluetooth when I want to listen through the truck.
Some states have laws against listening to a scanner in a vehicle. Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, New York and Minnesota.
Yeah, the scanner stream for my city went offline some time ago, and I haven't found another. Plus, the bear cat receives just about anything I can think of that I might want to listen to. Thankfully, I'm not in a nanny state when it comes to scanners in vehicles. Looks like FM modulator may be the way I have to go if I can't find a BT transmitter that Sync will play nice with.
I think Redford's solution is the best one for what you want. Whenever trying to make old tech work with new tech, there are many ways, but some will be better than others.
Holy cow that is expensive (well for what it is) and how much tech is in that (or isnt).
Neat piece though, if someone just has to have a 3.5mm input to Sync, there it is.
