hey guys have a question the po of my truck was a heavy smoker so the head lining is toast plus the chrome trim around the headling has got rust spots all over it so I need to replace both I was looking at those highliners as they call them that have a place to put a radio and cd player in plus they have four inbuilt speakers as well but before I even think of investing almost 300 dollars I would like to know if any members on here have had anything to do with them and if they are any good always best to ask for opinions before diving in head first with no background info thanks in advance brian
I've heard good and bad regarding the highliner.
The good: well it covered the roof and you can hear the speakers but at 10 watts handeling per speaker, your just listening.

As you can tell it's a headliner. Everyone I know who used this, installed their own speakers, re-enforced the stereo box to be able to handle a stereo without it dropping it.
If your handy make your own, customize it for speaker location then buy some thin foam and material and glue it down then install it.
I know there are pictures on this site of others who have done this. The highliner subject has come up before.
thanks Robert I might just have to rethink about that maybe just put in a new radio cd player in the original spot and mount 2 good quality speakers under the dash I don't want to put speakers in the doors I want my truck to look as original as I can
I have one and I've been happy with it. The speakers aren't super deluxe high end audiophile quality, but for an everyday driver, I think they're fine. I didn't put a stereo up there, I put one in the dash. Keep scrolling down in the linked post to see how I did that.
All in all, I'm pleased with it. Frodo, the '69 F250 CS: F600 dash cluster, pt. 2 - The FORDification.com Forums
try windex and some super fine steel wool on the chrome trim , normal cleans the rust off to an acceptable state , if not sand them and paint them if rechroming is not in the budget .
