I have been thinking the same thing....

A cheap ELM327 based OBD-II reader and FORScan or Torque app to read live data.

TPS, ECT, ACT/IAT values. Might as well throw in the MAF feedback value as well. Not sure if this early OBD-II system has pending codes?

TPS is 20% at idle and responds with pedal. Coolant temp and intake air temp both fine. Can not get a MAF reading as it does not run with it plugged in and air flowing through it. Only code I have is P0102 due to MAF unplugged.

20% would be ~1 V so that's good. If the ECT and IAT/ACT are good, by your own statement, I would really start to suspect a bad computer. Unplug the SPOUT, plug the MAF back in, then see if the engine runs. I would think there is a PID to monitor ignition timing/advance?

Timing is good also. Could see it advance/retard. Where is the spout located at?

I found the spout thanks to one of your older posts. Disconnected it and plugged in MAF. Same result. Starts, sputters, then dies. The computer is less than 3 years old but I guess it could be bad.

I do not want to spend anyone's money, but to me it is starting to point that direction. Hopefully some other minds will chime in.

If it had done this a few months ago I would have just dumped the thing. Now that I replaced just about everything on this truck I have too much into it to just get rid of it. Won't get much if it doesn't run.

you could remove PCM and open it, to see if anything looks suspicious, before buying, crashtestdummy is offering to test and fix PCM's for free, might be another alternative, before buying

I guess its worth a shot. It would be nice if it was in an easier spot to remove it though. What was Ford thinking with that location?

This being a MAF motor, i would put a vacuum gauge on it while it is idling. Another thing, does it behave any different when the motor is cold vs when it's up to temp?

According to the scanner, vacuum is fine. Engine temp change has no effect.

I got the computer out and this is the only thing I found that seems abnormal. Looks like a burn mark.
