Local dealer near me likes stock or near stock trucks. Deleted trucks are not welcome. Abused or heavily modified trucks are discounted, according to the salesperson I have worked with. My stock truck without scratches and dents are always welcome.

Said every Monday they have an auction. If I wanted to let them put it up and see what they could get at auction then they would give me that amount.

They were only the first dealer I spoke to, several others in the area. No real need for a new truck so I have all the time I need. Sales person is still working on it, I’ll give her some time. Been a customer of this dealership for over 30 years. Loyal to them but if need to go elsewhere I will.
I know about timing. I ordered my 2020 at end of Nov. Listed and sold my truck within 2 weeks for $5000 more than dealer offered me. Now im driving my old beater as a daily driver hoping the ball joints last another 4-6 weeks, lol.
But considering the dealer is offer $9000 below book and you need a least $4000 to break even on the deal, I'd still try to sell private. You have a $5000 window to play with. Won't hurt a thing to list it high and see how it goes.
