Still trying to diagnose my electrical glitch with one new question what should the current draw be off of the battery with everything off? Hood is open only enough to read the ammeter no under hood light on. Thanks 1999 F250 SD V10 92K Miles
Thanks for the reply performed the current draw test and after an hour it dropped to 7.5 mA. Doesn't seem too bad but when I turn the key on the battery indicator blinks secondly at idle the dash lights/indicators/dome light flicker. Brand new Interstate battery (old on was 6 years old) rebuilt alternator (old one was surging while charging). Checked all grounds except ones behind kick panels. Appreciate any info.
My 99 takes a minute or 2 to read 40 ma..depends on options your truck has.
Sounds to me like you either have a bad alt or connections at the starter solenoid are bad...Check all big wires and rip the alt out and have it checked.
The charging voltage with the rebuilt alternator fully loaded hangs around 15 volts, I did notice that the am radio without being on a station does wine louder when revved.. I am going to check the solenoid connections tomorrow.
