some weight breakdown questions
I'm trying to breakdown those numbers into generalized smaller "lego-like" amounts. Case in point I can do(from memory) a great job of this with the old school Subaru's I used to own.
1988 Subaru wagon GL-10 ~2700lbs
Ea82T engine ~250lbs
5spd d/r tranny ~175lbs
All interior (carpet, headliner, seats, dash & door panels) ~150-200lbs
Both bumpers ~50lbs total
1999-2004/5 F350's
So here are my breakdown question, and they are for approximations -*unless you happen to know a thread where someone actually went OCD and weighted things all the way out.
Standard cab
Supercab
Crewcab
(everything in it still, removed from frame)
Front clip body and radiator support assembly
(Hood, fenders, lights, radiator/coolers, etc)
**** I think my Gues-timations for the following are pretty close given the stuff i've done over the last decade but, I'm not confident in my accuracy.
hood ~ 80-100lbs
Single fender ~25lbs
8' bed ~200-250lbs (with & w/out tailgate)
Stock bumpers ~100lbs each
7.3L engine ~1000lbs (with everything still on it as it's well documented the base weight is ~920lbs?)
Tranny's ~350lbs (W.A.G.)
Transfer case ~250lbs (W.A.G)
**** There was a few places that list the upgrade from 2WD to 4X4 will increase the base weight ~400lbs (shrugs)
All this so I can figure out the approx wieght of a "rolling chassis."
I'm wanting to figure out the weight of frame with all suspension, steering assembly, brakes, wheels, both axles *if 4WD or 2WD, and that about sums it up.
If say someone knows the 2005-2020 numbers then why not add them as I'd be willing to bet the numbers should be generally similar given the decades long list of folks sharing the Cat scale tickets of real world "running" weights & various loaded levels too. In fact I'd bet the crewcab xlt or above model will stay about 50-100lbs thru the last 20years.
Thanks in advance folks.
Edited for: 1st paragraph typos. Sheesh.
The old BW1356 was only 70. Granted, it was smaller than today's SuperDuty 'cases, but the BW4407 (which is much closer in size to what we run, coming behind late model EFI 460s and early 7.3 PSDs) tipped the scales just a bit over 100.
Interestingly, if you Google "BW1356 weight" the first result is a chart claiming it was 110#. I can tell you this is absolutely incorrect -- point being don't believe everything on the interweb, you're better off to find someone on a forum like this who has actually thrown the object in question on a scale (old bathroom scales from thrift stores etc are an awesome addition to any shop)
as for weight of different stuff. I'm a bit surprised that its not been added to by anyone else in a month.
